AMARANTE open distance-learning program platform

The AMARANTE platform results from the DIF (Innovative training system) research-experimentation project launched in 1999 (see section on Research & Experimentation Innovative training system). Its usages assessed, providing feedback to the research project.

Introduction

AMARANTE, the second link in the chain of tools dedicated to engineering of open distance-learning systems (DFOAD) within the Pedagogical Innovation department of TELECOM ParisTech, is an open distance-learning platform enabling systems designed with OASIF to be implemented.

This platform is backed up by a 5-year open distance learning experience within the Pedagogical Innovation department.
It is the subject of freeware development in collaboration with the Computing department at Télécom Paris and EOF (École Ouverte Francophone).

The Amarante platform is based on the activity of the learner (organized and scripted) rather than on documents or on Computer-Assisted Learning (CAL) techniques.

Objective

The AMARANTE platform is aimed at set learner groups and cannot therefore be used for training on demand or by learners working on a self-learning basis.

This platform is designed to host training programs focusing on learner activities, fully or partially by distance-learning, and is aimed at:

  •  
    • universities proposing all or part of their courses as distance-learning programs,
    • to professors or training engineers wishing to dispense their courses as distance-learning programs
    • bodies offering training courses in the context of life-long learning programs
