An administrative and pedagogical digital environment for Graduate Program players:

- students
- professors
- administrative staff

Project leader: TELECOM ParisTech

A concrete project

Since 2004, TELECOM ParisTech has been developing and deploying a Digital Training Environment hinged around three objectives:

1. To make services related to students' education (online applications on the school's website, online administrative and course enrolment, monitoring of educational obligations, consultation of teaching unit descriptions and timetables, consultation of personalized educational diary, etc.) available to the school's players (students, professors, administrative and technical staff).

2. To promote and enhance the work of professors and students using ICTT (Information and Communication Technologies for Teaching) bringing together and constructing a pedagogical site for each teaching program unit (set of pedagogical documents used, innovative pedagogical services and students' work).

3. To share the school's knowledge by giving internet users official access to the pedagogical documents of volunteer professors

A structured initiative

The deployment of this environment was launched in 1999 with the creation of the "Pedagogical innovation" department and was implemented in several phases:

• 2001: Introduction of ICTT in TELECOM ParisTech' official strategy.

• 2002: 3-month in-house debate reviewing the benefits and advantages for the school of deploying ICTT and, more particularly, the online availability of course resources.

• 2003: The launch of the "Portail FI" or "Graduate Program Portal" one of the objectives of which is "A pedagogical site (consisting of pedagogical documents and new pedagogical services) per teaching program unit" accessible by a referral point via EOLE extranet/intranet.

• 2004: Project consolidation with concrete support to the construction or overhaul of professors' pedagogical sites in accordance with two solid operating principles: "to respect professors' time" and "to bring about changes to professors' practices in successive stages". Official agreement of management with respect to the initiative to make pedagogical documents available on the Internet on the basis of the voluntary participation of professors. Launch of the "Graduate Program Information System" ("SIFI").

• 2005: Integration within the Graduate Program Digital Environment of the "Portail FI" and "SIFI" projects and availability of some pedagogical documents via the school's website and ParisTech Graduate School and Institut TELECOM Open Course Ware projects :
